Mrs F. C. A’Court will return tc Christchurch to-day from Kelson. Mrs L. Hunt. Auckland, is the guest of Mrs M’Donald, The Grange, Opawa. Miss I. Craze is the guest of Mrs K. A. Boulton, Kimberley. Captain and Mrs Gill were passengers to Christhurch from the North this morning. Mrs 11. T. Ballin, Leinster Road, will leave Christchurch this evening for a visit to Wellington. Mrs W. H. Montgomery, Little River, who returned to New Zealand by the Tahiti, arrived in Christchurch yesterday. Misses M. Ferguson, B. Le Compte and G. Coade arrived in Christchurch on Saturday, after spending the vacation in Rotorua and Auckland. Miss Nira Munro, of John Street, Rangiora, is spending a vacation with Mrs 11. Chatterton, Dawson’s Road, Templeton. Dr Hamilton, New South Wales, and Mr and Mrs Hunter, Africa, are among the overseas visitors staying at the Clarendon Hotel. Mrs C. Lucas, who has been visiting her daughter, Mrs A. Jackson. Blenheim, will return to Christchurch today. 5 An “At Home ” will be held at the Canterbury Women’s Club on Friday afternoon in honour of Lady Liverpool, who is at present in Christchurch. The Victoria League have issued invitations for a garden party to be held at Riccarton House to meet their Excellencies Sir Charles and Lady Alice Fergusson. Miss Mona Magnet arrived yesterdaymorning from London to join Messrs Edgeley and Dawe’s Midnight Frolics. Miss Magnet will be remembered as the leading lady in the Peep Show, a J. C. Williamson attraction. Mr and Mrs A. D. M’Gill (Brisbane), Miss Barbara Knox (Sydney), Dr and Mrs Barraclough (Karamea), Miss Dorothy Judd (Darfield) and Miss Ruby Wright (Annat) are at Warner’s Hotel. Mr and Mrs E. L. Pratt and Miss E. D. Lockhart (Cheshire, England), Miss E. M. Reid (Dunedin), Miss A. W. Lilly (Dunedin) and Mr and Mrs F. Peter (Mount Somers) are at the United Service Hotel. Misses Gladys Adamson and Isabel Taylor, Lin wood, returned home this morning after an enjoyable holiday spent in the North Island, including Hamilton, Rotorua, Auckland and Wellington. Mrs Norman M’Lean and Miss M. M’Lean (Amberley), Mr and Mrs R. W. Bailey (Remuera), Mr and Mrs Herbert (Kelso), Miss Wood (Roslyn), Mr and Mrs Morrison (Nelson) and Mr and Mrs Warring (Wellington) are at the Clarendon Hotel. Miss Iris Montgomery, who is well known to the dancing public of Christchurch, has returned to Christchurch from abroad and will shortly resume teaching. Miss Montgomery studied dancing for nine months in England and for three months in Paris, where she specialised in Spanish dancing. She has had an interesting tour, and returned via India, Malay States and Singapore. v On Sunday Sir Heaton Rhodes and Lady Rhodes motored over to Akaroa and brought with them Lord and Lady Liverpool. and Lady Wells, Sir Heaton’s sister, who are now visiting at Otahuna. The party, after luncheon at the Bruce Hotel, motored down to the Memorial at Green Point and up some of the valleys. Mrs Ritchings Grant, Mayfield Avenue. St Albans, is visiting the North | Island, and is at present in Wanganui. General F. W. Cavendish and Mrs Cavendish arrived by the Tahiti from Sydney for a tour of the Dominion. Mrs Berry and her three children, Mayfield, are staying rvith Mrs Drummond, Barbadoes Street, St Albans. Mr and Mrs Angenest, Sydney, are visitors to Christchurch, staying at Warner’s Hotel. air and Mrs H, T. Little and Miss R. Little. Hawarden, are making a brief visit to Christchurch, and are staving at Warner’s Hotel. Mr and Mrs A. R. Hauschel, U.S.A., are among the overseas visitors staying at the United Service Hotel. The patients and staff of the Upper Sanatorium have been fortunate in having two fine entertainments provided tor them during the last fortnight. On Wednesday last a party organised by Mr A. Spicer gave a varied and interesting programme, Messrs Greenwood, Spicer, Cheetham, Rennell, Nicholls and Lockhart all giving appreciated items. At the week-end, through the kindness of Mrs Holmes (organiser) and Mr Gladstone Hill, a screening of “The Flag Lieutenant” was given. Mr Rennell sang appropriate songs, and Miss Webb played pleasing music on the piano. At the conclusion of both entertainments, Mr A. R. Hawke, in the absence of the medical superintendent, returned thanks on behalf of the staff and patients.
