IDEAL WEATHER HOLDS FOR SURF COMPETITIONS.
Surf competitions organised by the New Brighton Surf Club attracted a great, deal of attention yesterday. The Weather was beautiful, and all the conditions were ideal. There was good competition for the two ‘events on the programme, there being five teams competing in each. The judges were Messrs L. C. Martin and C. Bryant. At the conclusion of the two events, the Fox Cup was presented to the winners by the donor, Mr T. G. Fox, and, in the absence of the Mayor of New Brighton, Captain A. W. Owl*es, the Owles Cup was presented by Mr C. Bryant. Results:-: — THE OWLES CUP. Five-man Event. No. 5 team (E. A. Owles, belt; E. Ward, reel; T. Hartigan, line; H. Stokes, support; F. Carpinter, subject), 89J points 1 No. 1 team, 87 points 2 No. 3 team, 86 points 3 THE FOX CUP. Four-man Event. No. 1 team (R. E. Wilkinson, belt; M. Rattray, reel; M. Eaglesome, line; G. Gowan, subject) and No. 2 team (H. Smith, belt; S. S. Taylor, reel; M. Meikle, line; W. good, subject), 95 points (equal) 1 No. 4 team, 94 points 3
