PRIZES PRESENTED TO SCHOOL CHILDREN.

AYLESBURY. The annual prize-giving social was held in the Aylesbury schoolroom on December 19. The children entertained their parents with songs, recitations and games until supper time, after which the prizes were presented, each child receiving a prize. The sewing prize in the upper standards went to Margaret Selby, and in ths lower standards to Mary Johnson. Special prizes, kindly given by Mesdames Sowden, Marshall and Bradley were presented to Jean Mugford, Hazel Walker and Dorothy Bell. The chairman thanked the ladies who had judged the sewing and all those who nad given donations or Helped any way. He referred to the good work of the teacher, Mrs Bradley, who had held the position for thirteen years and congratulated her on her success with the proficiency pupils and general school work. Miss Joan Davis, on behalf of the school children, presented to their teacher a silver-mounted butter dish as a token of appreciation. Mrs Bradley suitably responded. A Monte Carlo waltz was won by Miss Kingdom and Mr G. Mugford. The singing of 4 Auld Lang Syne ” brought a pleasant evening to a close. AKAROA. On Wednesday the Akaroa District High School held its annual prize-giv-ing. There was a. good attendance of parents'and friends, over whom Mr A. M. Helps, chairman of the school committee, presided. The annual prize distribution of the Springston South School took place on Wednesday afternoon. Samples of the scholars’ work were on exhibition, and were much appreciated by the visitors. The annual prize-giving of the Lincoln School took place on Wednesday afternoon, in the presence of a large number of parents. Mr J. D. Crisp, chairman of the School Committee, presided, and Mrs Crisp presented the prizes. Occasion was taken by Master Billie Templeton to make a presentation on behalf of the Standard VI. pupils to Mr J. E. Maxwell, for the way he had prepared them for the proficiency examination.
