CROFTON LEA BREAK-UP.
On Wednesday afternoon parents and friends of the pupils of Crofton Lea Kindergarten and Preparatory School, May’s Road, were entertained in the schoolroom on the occasion of the annual break-up. Delphiniums, Canterbury bells and rambling roses formed a dainty background for the children —all between the ages of four and eleven —who performed a varied and interesting programme of drill, marching, eurythmics, folk-songs and dances. Later, after a display of drawing, sewing and educational handwork had been inspected, one of the older pupils, in the guise of Father Christmas, distributed books and prizes from the gaily decorated Christmas tree. At the conclusion of the afternoon the pupils presented Aliss Gretchen Marsden with a leather attache case, and Miss Freda Alarsden with a crystal vase. Amongst those present were:—Mesdames Alatson, L. Symes, Goss, W. Goss, Gardiner, Brooke, Roberts, Stott, Searle, Gibson, Byrch, Verall, Hessell, G. Palmer, Wardrop, Tonkin, Newton, Rendle, Macandrew, Norman, Howarth, Corsbie, Barnett, Strouts, Horrell, Andrews and Sams, Alisses Prichard, Buchanan, Horrell, Gardiner, Goss, Aiken, Al’Lean, Tingey, Bristowe, J. Palmer, Rendle, Andrews and others.
