KING NOT YET OUT OF DANGER.

DOCTORS PLEASED WITH PROGRESS MADE.

(Received December 21, 1.5 p.m.) LONDON, December 20. It is authoritatively stated that the doctors are very much more hopeful regarding the King’s ultimate recovery, but at present cannot have complete confidence, because the King is in such a weak condition and exhaustion is so profound. The possibility of a setback cannot entirely be ruled out. Exhaustion, however, is much less than during the past few daj’s, and the King is in a much safer position, but he has not yet reached the level of complete safety. If good progress continues for several davs unchecked, absolute confidence will be felt.

The doctors are not yet in a position to say when the goal will be reached. In the meantime, anxiety continues, but it is considerably less acute than it was. The Palace atmo-phere is much more hopeful to-night.

There were seven doctors at the Palace to-night, including ray specialists. It is understood that the object of the second visit was to continue the discussion on the future line of treatment. At present it is not known officially what the decision was. It is also not known how long the ray therapy treatment will proceed.

The Prince of Wales was in consultation with the doctors. Sir Stanley Hewett is again staying the night.— Australian Press Association.

INTERCESSORY SERVICE AT THE CATHEDRAL.

The united intercessory service for the King was conducted in the Cathedral this morning by the Rev J. Robertson, minister at the Oxford Terrace Baptist Church. The service started with a reading from Psalm 46, “God is Our Refuge,” after which the special intercessory prayers were read. The Lord’s Prayer, followed by a period of silent prayer, concluded the service.
