MR E. D. MOSLEY, S.M. LEAVES NEXT MARCH FOR TRIP TO ENGLAND.
CHRISTMAS GREETINGS EXCHANGED TO-DAY IN MAGISTRATE’S COURT.
Christmas greetings were exchanged at the conclusion of this morning’s sitting of the Magistrate’s Court. The Court and the legal profession commence their three weeks’ vacation to-day. During the speeches Mr E. D. Mosley, S.M., stated that he would leave in March next for a nine months’ holiday in England. On behalf of the legal profession, Mr W. J. Hunter extended the compliments of the season to Mr Mosley. He made reference to the good relationship that existed between the Bench and the Bar in Christchurch. Sub-Inspector J. Fitzpatrick endorsed Mr Hunter’s remarks and said that Mr Mosley had had a trying time judging so many technical cases. In reply, Mr Mosley thanked the Bar and the police for their expressions of goodwill and reciprocated by wishing them a merry Christmas. He said that he was feeling fatigued and jaded, and would be leaving for a holiday in England next year. He would be leaving on March 12 and returning about December 15. Although the past year had been a heavy one, that had in no way been due to the legal profession or the police, who had discharged their duties very faithfully indeed. T*eir relations had been of the happiest. Wherever he had been stationed in New Zealand he had found police officers reliable, obliging and conscientious.
Mr Mosley also exchanged the compliments of the season with the representatives of the Press.
