With her best jewels, worth about £60,000, including a diamond tiara and three perfect strings of pearls, Lady Glanely left Newmarket in a motor to join her husband, the racehorse owner, at Bath. • The car skidded at Royston, Hertfordshire, in an attempt to avoid a cyclllst, and overturned, catching fire. Lady Glenely, the chauffeur and a maid were rescued with difficulty, the jewels remaining in the car. The petrol exploded. Some scattered jewels were recovered, but otherwise they are almost a total loss. The cyclist suffered a fractured skull and leg and is in a critical condition.—“ Times” Cables.
