SANDERS CUP TRIAL IN AUCKLAND FAILS TO TAKE PLACE.

Per Press Association. AUCKLAND. December 20. The first of a series of trial races for 14ft Jellicoe boats, arranged to take place this evening by the Auckland Yacht and Motor Boat Association, for the purpose of selecting the Auckland representative in the Sanders Cup contest, did not eventuate. The reason is not definitely known, but it is suggested that the proposal of the New Zealand Yacht Squadron that the agelimit in future contests should be’twen-ty-one, has something to do with it. Also, it is stated that there is resentment among some of those concerned at the decision that each member® of the crew oyer twenty-one should pay £5 toward his expenses. The race was to start off Princes Wharf, and officials waited on the wharf for three-quarters of an hour, but no boats appeared. Mr C. G. Macindoe, owner of both Yal and Rona. later stated that his boats were ready to start, if the third boat engaged, Avalon, had put in an appearance.
