FREE BUYING BY CONTINENT AT THE DUNEDIN WOOL SALE
PRICES SLIGHTLY HIGHER THAN IN NORTH ISLAND. Per Press Association. DUNEDIN, December 21. At the opening wool sales this morning, of the first catalogue of 5713 bales offered, ninety per - cent were sold at prices slightly higher than in the north for both half-breds. and cross-breds, due to the superior quality. The top price at the opening was 24fd for seventeen bales of half-bred wether, and 22d for Merino. Necks were in exceptionally good demand, and sold at 21. id. the Continent buying freely, with Bradford buyers coming in occasionally. Japan was not in a purchasing mood.
