COFFINS RIFLED IN GEELONG VAULT.
(United Press Assn.—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) MELBOURNE, December 19. A grim discovery was made by the sexton of a cemetery at Geelong which contains a large vault belonging to the wealthy Armytage family, in which there are fifteen coffins, with space for nine more. The sexton discovered that somebody had raided a couple of coffins, apparjently for jewels which were believed to have been buried with the bodies. The coffins were badly damaged, and some of the mountings had been stolen. The sexton states that the lock had been off the vault for some time. Another allegation is that the vault has been used by drinking parties.— Australian Press Association.
