GROWING MORE LIKE CHICAGO EVERY DAY.
BY
SINBAD
I call upon the tragic muse to aid my peri, while I express my horrified and startled views of Auckland’s growing wickedness. For, if the news we hear be right, that busy city by the sea, so long the home of harmless skite, is now the home of banditry. Alas for Auckland’s civic pride that has run high since time began, for now there ranges far and wide the gangster, and the hold-up man. The boosters of that northern town now hide their heads for very shame. What has thus driven Auckland down ? Perhaps the climate we should blame. But still the horrid fact remains that crime each day the city mars, and soon policemen will take pains to travel round in armoured cars. Let's hope that such a heap of woes from Christchurch streets is kept away. It seems to me that Auckland grows like Chicago every day.
