MAGISTRATE’S COURT.
CHRISTCHURCH. (Before Mr H. A. Young, S.M.). Judgment by default was entered for the plaintiff in the following cases:— Smith and Jarden v. T. G. Druery, £1 19s lOd; W. Musson v. George Pegley, £3 9s 2d; Mercantile and General Insurance v. D. Alison, £1 4s; same v. W. M’Donald, 17s 3d; J. Lorimer v. C. Atkinson, £8 Is 4d. JUDGMENT SUMMONS. Archibald Munday was ordered to pay the North Canterbury Hospital Board £4 12s 6d, in default five days’ imprisonment. CLAIM FOR WAGES. Manfred Charles Kennedy, of Christchurch, painter’s assistant (Mr Cuningham), claimed from W. A. M’Donald, of 32, Gamblin’s Road, St Martins, painter, and Ruth M’Donald, his wife (Mr Atack), the sum of £37 ss, being the amount allegedly‘due to plaintiff as wages in arrears from December, 1927, to August 1, IQ2B. Mr Cuningham said that M’Donald was evidently in a small way of business and could not give his apprentice sufficient work. As a consequence M’Donald would employ Kennedy in the garden and at other odd jobs. He had then wanted Kennedy to leave and obtain another job. (Before Mr E. D. Mosley, S.M.). REMANDED. An eighteen-year-old boy (Mr Weston), charged with unlawful assault upon a fourteen-year-old girl, was remanded to the Children’s Court. UNREGISTERED WIRELESS. For having unregistered wireless seta, the following were fined: Walter Entwhistle, 5s and costs; Allan Mortlock, 5s and costs; George Papps, 20s and costs. LYTTELTON. (Before Mr F. E. Sutton and Mr S. Knight, J.P.’s). ALLEGED ASSAULT. James Leonard Fordrey was charged with assaulting George Arthur Olley. Accused made application for a remand until to-morrow, in order that he might get the services of a solicitor. Sergeant Dunlop said that he had no objection to the adjournment. Accused .was on bail in the sum of £lO, and bail could be renewed. The adjournment was granted.
