PROSPECTS FOR TENNIS ARE BRIGHT.
BY SINBAD. Though it will miss summertime backing, judged by indications in sight, yet signs are at present not lacking that prospects for tennis are bright. For daily the knights of the racquet, are donning their flannels once more, a tennis ball , seeking to smack at, and hoping in ranking to soar. When one has contracted the habit, one hopes to do wonders each spring, and though but the veriest rabbit, some crack from his high place to fling. And those who considered in winter, a golf ball the height of their aim, with visions of rosiest tint are, now seeking the white flannelled game. All cricketers now they are scorning, these grim and fanatical souls, and they wake up thankful each morning, they do not play croquet or bowls. Each spring such a fever arises, but it seems much stronger this year. They’re offered unusual prizes, with Englishmen travelling here.
