TRAMWAYMEN WILL CONSIDER SCHEME FOR ONE UNION
Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, September 26. Every tramway centre in New Zealand was represented at the annual conference of tramwaymen, which opened this morning and is expected o last a week. In welcoming the delegates, Mr Ford, manager of the city trams, urged them in studying their own interests to consider also those of the various Dominion tramway concerns. He referred to the difficulties in various centres owing to bus competition, but said he believed a brighter day was dawning. Important subjects for discussion are affiliation with kindred transport workers of Australia, and the organising of all tramwaymen and busmen throughout the Dominion into one transport union.
