MRS T. E. TAYLOR WELCOMED.

A warm welcome was extended to Mrs T. E. Taylor, the president, by delegates of the Canterbury Provincial Convention of the Women’s Christian Temperance Union, who met last evening in the Y.WIC.A. building. Mrs Taylor has recently returned from the Pan-Pacific Conference at Honolulu, and members of the union spoke, last evening, in eulogistic terms of Kirs Taylor’s -work. I Mayor (Rev J. K. Archer), who occupied the chair, referred to the presence of the visiting delegates, and commented on the work and aims of the union. Mr Archer extended a warm welcome to Airs Taylor. lie was very pleased to see Mrs Taylor back in Christchurch and hoped that she would continue her good work in the cause of the welfare of women and children in Christchurch. (Applause). Speeches of welcome to Kirs Taylor were made by Mrs J. W. Williams (vice-president of the North Canterbury District Union), and Miss Henderson, 8.A., J.P. (Dominion secretary). The Rev D. Gardner Miller and Mr G. Shipley extended welcomes, on behalf of the churches anrl kindred societies. Kirs Taylor replied, giving a resume of the work of the Women’s PanPacific Conference at Honolulu. Musical and other items were given during the evening.
