EMPIRE FAIR.

This year the decorations were unusually tasteful and the goods for sale simply tempted parishioners to buy: not only were the things artistic, but they were such good value for the money. Punctually at 2.30 Mrs George Hampton Rhodes arrived and was escorted to the platform by the vicar, the Rev J. de Lambert. In a few words she declared the fair open and expressed her wish for its success, which would mean much help to the parish funds. The stalls and stallholders were: Produce, Mesdames Maddren and Watts; cakes, Mesdames Whitta, Ellis, O’Neil, Bailey, Walker and Hall; sweets, Mesdames Trevor Foster and Wait; plain sewing, Mesdames Roberts, Cox and Leslie; the llid stall, Mrs Carleton; flowers, Mesdames Robinson and Kingsford; baskets. etc*., Mrs Ellis and Girls’ Guild; variety. Miss Doreen Clark and junior girls; ice-cream, Young Men’s Guild; books. Boys’ Guild; afternoon tea, Mesdames Kfusgrave, Klalcolmson, Palmer and Ford; games, Mr Yardley. Kir S. F. \\ ilson was an efficient secretary. The tea-room decorations were carried out in mauve and yellow. The flower stall was laden with beautiful flower?, pot plants and seedlings.
