AUSTRALIAN BANKS WILL TRADE DIRECT WITH CANADA NOW.

The Department of Trade and Commerce has received a cable from Mr D. H. Ross. Canadian Trade Commissioner at Melbourne, stating that the Australian banks, including the Commonwealth Bank, after resisting for years, have agreed to open accounts for all overseas banks as from September 29. Montreal bankers say that this means that all banking with Canada will be done direct instead of through London.—Australian Press Association.
