NOTICE OF MOTION ON SQUARE SCHEME.
CR. A. W. HEAVEN PROPOSES THAT POLL SHOULD BE TAKEN
“That a poll of the ratepayers be taken on the advisability of erecting a colonnade in Cathedral Square, with conveniences for a tramway shelter, rest rooms and lavatories; and on the borrowing of £lß,ooo—in order to repay £BOOO drawn from the Electricity Committee, and to expend £IO,OOO in completing the circular back of the colonnade, to form a goodly garden within the circle, and to place all lavatories under the ground.” The above notice of motion has been given by Councillor A. W. Beaven for the next meeting of the City Council. Mr Beaven says that the £IB,OOO is in addition to the sum of £BOOO or £9OOO which the council desired to borrow under the authority of the Health Act.
