WATCHMEN AT THE WINTER SHOW PUT OUT TWO FIRES.

SECRETARY EXTOLS THEIR EFFICIENCY

With large crowds visiting the Win ter Show daily, every precaution has "o be taken against fire in the Barracks. This is especially so at night and, already, the watchmen have located two small outbreaks.

The first occurred last week, when the watchmen found a heap of material smouldering in the annexe. Again ! ast night, another smouldering fire was discovered in the annexe, which houses the amusement portion of the show. Both fires were extinguished without amage to other property. The efficiency of the watchmen was highly spoken of this morning by the secretary, Mr E. H. Marriner, in referring to these two small fires. He said that they were conscientious and took every precaution. Another pleasing fact had been that losses had been reported from the stands, but later oil the owners of the articles had found *he lost goods, having mislaid them themselves.
