GOLF.

MISS BEADEL WINS LADIES’ CHAMPIONSHIP FOR FOURTH TIME.

The final over thirty-six holes, between Miss Maberley Beadel, last year’s champion, and Miss E. Parsons, was played at Shirley yesterday mder ideal conditions, when Miss Beadel successfully defended the title by the comfortable margin of 6 up and 5 to play. Miss Parsons started off like a train and was 4- up at the fifth, while Miss Beadel was scratchy. However, at the sixth her turn came and by sounder play she won this hole in 5, and after a long putt, holing for a 3 at the seventh, and. another win, she continued to play good golf, reduced the margin, and was square at the turn. From this on she never looked like being beaten. She was playing the better game and established a lead of 4 up at the eighteenth. In the afternoon Miss Beadel Increased the margin to 5 up at the twentieth, which Miss Parsons reduced to 3 up at the twenty-second, but she could not sustain her effort against her opponent’s good golf. Indifferent play on Miss Parsons's part gave Miss Beadel wins at the twenty-third and twenty-fourth, and made he/ 5 up. The twenty-lifth and twenty-sixth holes were halved, and Miss Beadel won the twenty-seventh and twenty-eighth. The twenty-ninth was halved. Miss Parsons took the thirtieth. This left Miss Beadel *” dormy,” and halving the thirty-first gave her the chaonpionship by 6 up and 5 to play. The winner deserves her success for she played very sound, steady golf after the first few holes. A feature of the game was the excellent driving of both players. The approaching and putting of the winner were very accurate, but in these departments the loser was weak and had exasperating putts to contend with. This Is Miss Beadol’s fourth win in this championship.
