TEACHERS’ DEPUTATION WAITS ON MINISTER.
Per Pres* Association. WELLINGTON, August 21. Four questions of importance to teachers, Aiz., salaries, superannuation, smaller classes and regulations, Avere brought before the Minister of Education by a deputation from the execu tive of the Educational Institute. The Hon R. A. Wright said that one factor seemed clear, that any new basis of salary would increase the cost of education. However, it seemed to him that the present system had serA’ed its purpose’ and was now practically’ obsolete. Any assistance the institute could gh-e in draAving up a new scheme would be welcomed. The Minister thought the Government Avould have to strengthen the superannuation fund. It was his aim to bring all classes down to forty. He had been striA’ing as far as possible to give classes separate rooms. It should be their aim to make the primary school sy’stem as perfect as possible.
