SUPERINTENDENT OF SANATORIUM.

DR MACINTYRE IS RECOMMENDED BY BOARD

The Hospital Board, at its meeting to-day decided to recommend to the Director-General of Health that Dr J. C. Macintyre, assistant superintendent gt the Cashmere Sanatorium, be appointed to succeed Dr G. J. Blackmore as superintendent of the sanatorium. The decision followed a lengthy discussion in committee. When the board resumed. Rev Clyde Carr moved that the position be advertised' for, and that a ballot be taken on the motion. Mrs Green seconded the amendment. The Rev J. K. Archer: I do not think that you can take a motion that we should take a ballot. You have standing orders for voting, and we will have to vote according to them. The standing orders were read. Mr Archer: That is not a ballot; it is a division. Mr Carr: Then I will call for a division. After some further discussion, Mr Archer said members should not be ashamed of their votes. The chairman ruled that the vote should be taken by show of hands. Iloyever. the amendment was lost and the motion confirming what had been done in committee was carried, without a division being called for.
