RESEARCH WORK IS PLANNED.

WHEAT COMMITTEE HAS MEETING. Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, August 21. Two meetings of the Wheat Research Executive r.ommittee have been held recently in Christchurch. Advantage is to be taken of Dr Marsden’s visit to Canada to interview a number of applicants for the position of wheat research chemist. Recommendations have been received from the English Selection Committee. Correspondence was received from the British Flourmillers’ Research Association expressing a wish to co-operate, and it was decided to communicate further with the director in order to decide upon a plan of action. 11 was stated that some investigations which were being carried out by the national research scholar, Mr Dixon, at Canterbury College, were likely to prove of considerable significance in connection with baking. Dr Barnett, of the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research, was also at work, and Mr J. W. Haanela had furnished a report upon the proposals for dealing with crops certification for the coming year. The director was requested to approach the secretar>' of the Wheat Pool with a view to making arrangements regarding the disposal of wheat certified under the Institute's certification scheme.
