MOTORMAN LOSES HIS APPEAL AGAINST DISMISSAL BY BOARD.
A sitting of the Tramway Appeal Board was held yesterday afternoon to consider an appeal by Douglas Simpson Fraser (Mr Hunter). Fraser had been dismissed from his position as a motorman for a “ continued bad record,” and he appealed against the punishment. The board comprised Messrs H. A. Young, S.M., J. A. Webb (employees), and J. A. Frostick (employers). Mr Hutchinson appeared for 'the Tramway Board. Mr Hunter said that the case was a test case. The punishment had been far too severe.
Mr Hutchinson said that the case was a challenge against the methods of the tramway officials. After lengthy evidence had been heard, the appeal was disallowed on a majority vote by the board.
