ST JOHN AMBULANCE BRIGADE MEETS.
The Finance Committee of the St John Ambulance Brigade met last night: present—Major A. L. Gray (chairman), Mesdames A. L. Bishop, M. Pyne, G. Watt, E. Robertson, Messrs F. S. Bonnington, J. Becconsall, G. Peek, F. Rudd, W. J. Clemens and L. A. Cummings. The folio wing new members were appointed to the committee; Messrs L. A. Cummings (Medical Corps), A. T. Hoddinot (corps storekeeper), Colonel Dawson and Colonel Borrie.
Mr G. Peek reported on behalf of the sub-committee set up to arrange for members of the brigade to do duty at the Winter Show. He stated that there were officials on duty at the show from ten in the morning until ten at night. A demonstration of ambulance work would also be given on Friday evening, August 24, at 8.15, at the show. Mrs M. Pyne, on behalf of the Social Committee, reported that a piano had been purchased for the rise of the brigade, and that the liability on it was very small.
Mr J. Becconsall reported that he had got into communication with Captain Findlay regarding having men on duty on the arrival of Squadron-Leader Kingsford Smith and his party. Captain Findlay thought the idea a good one. Mr Becconsall stated that he was now in communication with Mr P. R. Climie on the subject, but he had not as yet received a reply. The following sub committee was set up to go into detail about supplying stores for t.he unit:—Mrs A. L. Bishop, Messrs A. T. Hoddinot, G. Peek, J. Becconsall and F. Rudd.
