TRAMWAY FIGURES FOR MONTH SHOW DECREASE.
During the four weeks ended July 22 last, there were decreases in the Tramway Board’s earnings, expenses and standing charges, compared with the corresponding term of last year.
J The number of tram passengers decreased by 18,484, but the number of 2 bus passengers increased by 3,908. When the figures came before the ' Tramway Board yesterday, Mrs E. R. 2 M’Combs said that the important point 2 was the decrease in passengers carried ? Mr W. I lay ward said that the operating expenses had decreased by £1495. j The "chairman (Mr J. Wood) : It goes to prove that the board is doing its best to keep down expenses.
