AUCKLAND SPORTSMEN GET IT IN THE NECK.
(Special to the “Star”). AUCKLAND. August 20. Saturday was one of the blackest days for Aucklanders in the history of sport. The All Blacks, North Island, the Auckland reps, and Grammar School (downed by New Plymouth High School 49 to nil), were all beaten, as were the New Zealand League team (nearly all Aucklanders), the Auckland hockey team and the YJd.C A. Soccer team, the Chatham Cup North Island finalists. The traditional enemy, Wellington, accounted for three reverses.
