DOGS IN SUMMER.
Unless dogs receive careful treatment in hot weather their health will often
suffer and their lives will be miserable. Plenty of fresh water is needed by dogs in warm weather. They like to have access to it at all times. Exercise is better given in early morning and late evening, as most dogs find a midday walk trying. A daily swim is much appreciated in hot weather. The guard-dog should be off the chain during the day, if not at night, but the chain is better avoided altogether if a dog is to be healthy and happy. When a dog sleeps in a kennel, place his kennel in as cool a place as possible. Never keep a dog long in strong sunlight. A dog does not require as much meat in hot weatfibr, a little cooked fish is a good substitute, and green vegetables mixed with gravy are
