NORTH CANTERBURY GUN CLUB HOLDS SHOOT.

On Saturday afternoon the ; North Canterbury Gun Club fired a twelvebird ela.v pigeon handicap. In addition to the sweep money, a trophy valued at £2 2s was donated by Mr A. A. M’Lean as a first prize, and Mr J. Johnston gave a second prize trophy value £1 is. There were nineteen competitors, seventeen of whom contributed to an optional sweep. D. W. Davison 17yds and I. G. Watkins 12yds broke the possible and divided the sweep money. In shooting off for the trophies, Watkins won on the first round. He also won a special trophy, value £1 Is, given by Mr J. Fitzgibbon for the best performance inside the 14yds mark. A club special prize for the best unplaced performance inside the 13yds mark was won by A. A M’Lean with eleven breaks off the 11yds mark. J. Skilling 14yds, J. J. Matthews 15yds, A. B. Kerr 16yds, A. Anderson 18yds, L. Kerr 24yds, M. Anderson 12yds and E. Hammond 3 6yds tied with eleven each for third money, and in the shoot off J. Skilling, E. Hammond and L. Kerr divided. There was a second event for a twelve-bird sweep, for which there were nineteen entries. J. Skilling 14yds, W. Davison 18yds, L. Kerr 24yds, A. Frestney 12yds, E. Hammond 16yds and M. D Bailey 11yds broke the possible and divided the prize-money. The club special prize for the best unplaced performance inside the 13yds mark was won by J. U. M’Cracken with eight breaks off 11yds. In a final event of first miss out, thirteen competed. J. J. Matthews 18yds, A. B. Kerr 16yds, L. Kerr 24yds and M. D. Bailey 11yds divided the sweep money after the ninth round.
