MAGISTRATE’S COURT.

CHRISTCHURCH. (Before Mr E. D. Mosley, S.M.) DRUNKENNESS. Three first offenders for drunkenness were fined 20s, 20s and 10s each inf default twenty-four hours’ imprisonment. A LAST CHANCE. For failing to comply with his order of release on probation, William Hay Ramsay was admitted to a further term of probation for twelve months. The Magistrate stated that the circumstances were such that the Court could not take a lenient view. Accusr ed ought to be sent to gaol. He had defrauded a man who had shown him a great kindness. He would be given one more chance, but if he came into Court again he would be sent to gaol. TRAFFIC CASES. For having no light on his bicycle ■while riding at night, Herbert William Allen was fined 10s and costs. Harold Chambers was fined 20s and. costs for overloading a steam waggon. William Arral Pattison was fined 20s and costs for speeding' over an Intersection. Collin Andrew M’Laughlin was Bned os for parking his car over the usual time limit. For driving without licenses, S. S. Barclay and V. R. Holmes were each fined 10s and costs. O. M. Williams was fined 10s and costs for having an unregistered motorcycle. For not having a horn on his motorcycle, E. H. Pateman was fined 10s and costs. He was also ordered to pay costs for not having number plates on his machine. G. G. Ashe was fined 10s and costs for not having number-plates cn his motor-cycle. BREACH OF BY-LAW. For permitting the existence of a ■water connection without having a permit from the Christchurch City Council to connect up two houses, I.eslie Ellis Uren was fined 20s and costs. (Before Mr H. P. Lawry, S.M.) MAINTENANCE CASES. Stanley Leigh was granted an order for variation of arrears on a maintenance order in respect to his wife, Vera Leigh (Mr Lockwood). Future main-, tenance was reduced to 10s a week. Frederick William Burke Bennett was ordered to pay his wife, Mary Ann Bennett, maintenance at the rate of 15s a week, and to pay past maintenance, £7. Leo Horace Barker was ordered to pay £1 a week for the maintenance of his two children. Margaret Peart (Mr Moloney) was granted a separation order against Albert James Peart, maintenance being fixed at 30s a week. For disobedience of a maintenance order, Roland Leight Sullivan was convicted and sentenced to seven days’ imprisonment, the yvarrant to be suspended on payment of 10s weekly off arrears in addition to payment of current order. Frederick Seelen, for disobedience of a maintenance order, was sentenced to seven days’ imprisonment, the warrant to be suspended on payment off arrears of 5s weekly. James Duncan Stewart was sentenced to six months’ imprisonment, the warrant to be suspended on payment of £4O on arrears, which amount to £7B. W. J. Whittaker was ordered to pay 12s 6d a week in respect to the maintenance of his two children. Francis Lindsay Squire was ordered to pay 50s per week for maintenance of his yvife and child. He was further ordered to pay 5s per week off arrears amounting to £2O. A separation order was made against him.
