Davy, Dominion organiser for the United New Zealand Political Party, arrived from Wellington this morning, and conferred to-day with members of the Canterbury executive of the party regarding the selection of candidates to contest 'the North Can:erbury electorates at the general elecThe meeting took place in the Canterbury Owners’ and Breeders’ Association's rboms, and was attended by Mr George Forbes, the acting-leader of the party, the Hon Dr Buddo, M.P., Mr J. D. Hall (chairman of the North Canterbury executive) and other members of the executive.

Air W. T. Lester, who has been asked to contest the Lyttelton seat in the interests of the party, was present at the meeing and subsequently conferred with Mr Davy. A further meeting will be held this evening, when matters in connection with the coming campaign will be discussed. Mr Davy informed a “Star” reporter this afternoon that it had been definitely decided to nominate candidates for Christchurch North, Christchurch East, Avon, Lyttelton and Riccarton. In regard to Christchurch South, no decision had 3-et been reached. The names of the parties, candidates may not be announced for several days, said Mr Davy, as they had to be confirmed by headquarters first. “We have no dearth of candidates,” he added. “I have been called upon by people from practically every electorate in the Dominion asking me to assist in the matter of organisation. In nearly every case two or three names of prominent citizens willing to stand as United Party candidates have been given ,to me. Mr Davy will go south on Tuesday, accompanied by. Mr. . George Forbes, M.P., for the purpose of organising the party in South Canterbury and Otago and Southland, but will return to Christchurch later in the week to finalise matters in this city. The following is a list of candidates, apart from sitting members, who have alread)* been selected J>y the United Party:— Oroua—Mr J. G. Cobbe. Waitomo —Mr W. J. Broadfoot. Waikato —Mr F. Lye. Awarua—Mr P. A. de la Perelle. Dunedin Central —Mr H. E. Moller. Dunedin West —Mr John Louden. Dunedin (electorate not 3-et decided)—Mr W. B. Taverner. Manawatu—Mr H. J. D. M’ManaWaitemata —Mr R. H. Greville. - Auckland Suburbs—Mr E. R. Allen. Manukau—Mr W. T. F. KellsMason. Eden—Mr A. J. Stallworthy. Auckland East—Mr J. B. Donald. It is expected that Mrs T. E. Taylor will be selected as the party’s candidate for Christchurch North.
