GOOD DISPLAYS MADE FOR EMPIRE SHOPPING WEEK.
JUDGING IS TO TAKE PLACE ON MONDAY. The Empire Shopping Week displays again attracted a lot of attention yesterday. The scope of the display has been increased by the appearance of 'more posters, while almost every show window in the city has a collection of Empire goods. In some cases city firms have provided window space for th© display of Empire goods of a iy pe outside those in which they are themselves commercially interested. Thus Messrs Beath and Co. have a roost attractive display of Osborne gas cookers and heaters, manufactured by the New Scott Range Manufacturing Company. The judging of the window displays will take place on Monday, after 5 p.m. Arrangements have now been completed for processions of British motor-cars. These will take place on May 23 and 24. The committee has available a supply of stickers for placing on motorcar windscreens. The stickers are of neat design, and bear the words: “Buy within the Empire.” It is expected that the Empire Ball, to be held on May 24, will be a great success. Prizes will be awarded for the
best-carried-out costume (lady and gentleman), the most original costume, and to drapers and dressmakers for the two best girls representing Empire goods.
