There -was a good attendance at the monthly meeting of the Riccarton branch of the Women’s Christian Temperance Union, held on Thursday afternoon. Mrs C. Barrell presided. The temperance fact was taken from an address by Commander Evangeline Booth telling of the improved conditions existing in America since prohibition was enforced. Mr Johnstone, treasurer of the League of Nations Union, spoke on “ Peace in Relation to China,” The address was highly interesting and several questions were asked. The meeting concluded with a hearty vote of thanks to the speakers.
