At the monthly meeting of the Society for the Protection of Women and Children the Rev F. Rule presided. Mr J. A. S. Wait, was unanimously appointed as honorary treasurer to the society, Mr Mackie having resigned. The valuable work Mr Mackie had done for the society was placed ,on record. The matter of deserted wives not being able to receive the family allowance was discussed and it- was decided. to wrifSe to the Minister of Justice. The secretary reported 199 miscellaneous, 94 visits and 262 callers had been attended to.
