Revolting Murder Alleged Against Sydney Husband.
WIFE, WHO LEFT SEVERAL THOUSANDS OF POUNDS, FOUND DEAD IN MYSTERIOUS CIRCUMSTANCES. (United Prefis Association. —By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.J (Received May 18, 11 a.m.) SYDNEY, May 18. MRS SARAH DELANEY (sixty-three) was found dead at her home in Granville, a suburb of Sydney, on Wednesday. An element of mystery surrounded her death. The police have now arrested her husband, John Delaney (sixty-three), a bag merchant, on a cha'rge of murder. A medical examination disclosed that the woman was murdered in a revolting manner, recalling the Long Bay horror of a few years ago, but the police have not yet found the instrument which inflicted the terrible internal injuries. Mrs Delaney left several thousands of pounds. The police, who discovered a quantity of burned papers under the copper, assert that Delaney and his wife lived unhappily.—Australian Press Association.
