BIGGER SHIPMENTS OF FROZEN MEAT.

BIG INCREASE SHOWN IN BEEF AND PORK. (Special to the "Star.”) WELLINGTON, May 1. Official returns announced by the Meat Producers’ Board for the six and a half months of the present season up to April 15 show an increase in the shipments of all classes of frozen meat compared with the corresponding period last season. Killings of stock for export show a small increase in lamb, a decrease in mutton, and large increases in pork and beef. The total shipments from October 1 to April 15 were:—130,676 quarters of beef, 928.894 carcases of mutton, 3,007,824 of lamb, and 69,190 of pork, representing the following increases : —Beef, 21,924 ; mutton, 812 100 lamb, 2,311,114; pork, 51,013. Killings were as follows, last year’s figures being in brackets:— North Island— Beef, quarters 237,422 (52,997). Wether mutton, carcases 886 043 (1,012,264). Ewe mutton, 441.719 (487,825).
