DROVER’S HORSE IS ELECTROCUTED.
WIRE BROUGHT DOWN N DURING STORM. A drover had a narrow escape today, when the hone which he was driving stepped on a live wire and was instantly electrocuted. During the severe north-east gale that prevailed for some hours in North Canterbury last night, a branch stripped from a tree brought down the electric line on Eastbrook’s Road, at Southbrook, opposite Mr H. DickofF's residence. Early this morning Mr C. Parsons, sheep drover, of Rangiora. was driving along the road in a gig, when his horse stepped*on the live wire, and, although the line was a low-tension one, the animal was electrocuted. In attempting to remove the harness from the horse, Mr Parsons also received a shock, but, probably owing to his wearing rubber boots, he was saved from serious consequences. Mr Dickoff, who came to his assistance, also received a shock, but it was not sufficient to do him any harm. Two of Mr Parsons’s dogs disappeared in a strange manner, and up to midday no word of them had been received.
