PIANOFORTE RECITAL.

Tall chrysanthemums and masses of autumn tints made a charming setting for the pianoforte recital given in Messrs Chas. Begg and Go’s, recital chamber on Saturday evening by the students of Miss Gertrude Eaton, L.A.B. About one hundred and twenty guests were present. A programme of solos, duets and trios was interpreted by the performers and reflected much credit on the training they # had received. Some of the composers presented were: Mendelssohn, Beethoven, Henselt, Debussy, Schubert, Sibelius, Torjussen, Grieg, Elgar, Chopin, Liszt, and Moskowski. A feature of the evening’s entertainment was a duet for two pianos played by Mrs A. Ivepple, Miss Estelle Woods, Miss Gwen Shier and Miss Ruby Williams. By special request this item was repeated. Other students taking part were: Misses Muriel Williams, Dorothy Williams, Ruth Gerrand, Dorothy Mitchell, Ngaire Pounsford, Linda Pimm, Jessie M’Lea, Molly Coote, Kathleen Hcldsworth, Nancy Jones, Elena Hore, Ellen Best, Alisoii Pierr, Gwen Townshend, Rita Odering, Gladys Hales, Evelyn Coote, Thora Robertson, Audry Drury, Eileen Orme, Alice Orme, and Masters Gerald Hewitt, Vernon Hicks, Lewis Hudson, Willie Miller and Walter Thrower. During the evening songs were given by Master Gerald Hewitt, Mr J. K. Burtt and Mr Arthur S. Bell. Miss Eaton was the recipient of several beautiful bouquets.
