BY SINBAD. Our Mayor and Councillors have seen the old Waitaki stream. They travelled there on Saturday 'neath somewhat cloudy skies, and, when the jolly engineers explained to them the scheme, they made a valiant attempt to look extremely wise. This mighty hydro said they, is needed urgently, so we are here to hustle up each engineering man. We trust the building of the dam will swiftly started be. "Oh! yes,” replied the engineers, "as quickly as we can.” They all were visibly impressed with wonders to be seen, and each could form a faint idea of what it was about. No doubt the work will show more
pace now that these men have been, and Coates will send more engineers to pep it up no doubt. But all the same it must have been a jolly holiday, a glorious week-end among such spots of scenic bliss. I hope next time there’s such a trip that. I can gel away. Methinks T would enjoy myself could I be in on this.
