PREPARATIONS FOR MOTOR CARNIVAL NOW WELL IN HAND.

TRACK MEETING WILL BE ATTENDED BY 10,000, PROMOTERS EXPECT.

At a well-attended meeting of the general committee of the Pioneer Sports Club, Mr P. Menzies presiding Mr G. Henderson reported on behalf of the motor section that all details in connection with the motor track race meeting to be held' on the New Brighton course were well in hand, and that the governing body of motorcycle racing, the New Zealand Auto Cycle Union, had approved of the following events, for which prizes to the value of £IOO had been allocated:— Three miles novice handicap, five miles open handicap (up to 350 c.c.), seven miles open handicap (up to 600 c.c.), ten miles open handicap (unlimited power), six miles open handicap (up to 500 c.c.), eight miles open handicap lunlimited power), four miles handicap confined to Canterbury riders (un--1 limited power), four miles consolation handicap (unlimited power). The motor section had been assured of the hearty co-operation of the Canterbury Amateur Athletic Club, who would also promote an attractive programme of athletic events, which would be run in conjunction with this meeting. Mr Henderson also reported that the motor section had applied to the tramway authorities for the provision of ample facilities for the conveyance of patrons to and from the course. It was estimated that the number would be at least 10,000. His section was also negotiating with the bandsmen to provide a popular programme of music, and he was pleased to state that all details were well in hand.

Mr W. 11. Jones stated that he had been advised by several North Island riders of their intention to compete, and that an invitation had been extended to his Excellency the GovernorGeneral to be present.

The report of the motor section was approved, and the members were congratulated upon their good work.

The motor committee will hold a special meeting next Monday evening to appoint officials and complete the many details in connection with the carnival.
