WILL SAMOA HAVE A LITTLE WAR?
BY
SINBAD.
The jolly old Samoan mess which long has Gordon Coates perplexed, has not of late grown any less, nor are those isles less sorely vexed. The angry members of the Mau (or maybe you pronounce it Mau) are hardly reconciled by now, for things still get them on the raw. On this point they should shed some light, for I've a notion, don’t you know, that neither rendering is right and that we ought to call it Mau. But, to resume, the new police that to Samoa have been sent, may fail to re-establish peace without becoming badly bent. And so the Premier has sent off two naval cruisers to their aid, which makes the Labour Party scoff and brings from Holland a tirade. No doubt this act Samoans narks—no wonder they are feeling sore, the wrangle now has all the marks of quite a nasty little war.
