M.P.’S WILL GATHER IN CANADA IN 1928.
EMPIRE PARLIAMENTARY MEETING TO BE HELD. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. Aus. and N.Z. Cable Association. • (Received December 16, 11.30 a.m.) LONDON, December 15. Mr Baldwin, presiding at the annual Empire Parliamentary gathering, announced that a delegation similar to that which visited Australia and New Zealand will visit Canada in 1928. South Africa, which heretofore bad been luke-warm, was developing interest and hoped to send a delegation there also. Mr Macdonald admitted that although he had visited every' dominion before the war his impressions now were out of date, because the war had changed everything fundamentally and almost unconsciously. The old formulae were now impossible. The only bond with the dominions now was that intangible spiritual thing, “ Our common pride, and our common inheritance.” The Rt Hon J. lan Macpherson said that annual Imperial Conferences were impossible and suggested the annual Parliamentary Conferences, representative of the whole Empire and functioning similarly to the preparatory committees at Geneva, between the plenary Imperial Conferences.
