SYDNEY, July 4. Speaking at the annual sales convention to-day of Metro-Gold wynMayer Ltd., Mr N. B. Freeman, managing director, said that British pictures would be welcomed in America with open arms, as they would lead to healthy competition. They were sure of success, provided they -conformed to the desired standard. Of Mens, the recently acquired British picture, Mr Freeman said the picture should have been released in Australia last January. “ Owing, however,” said Mr Freeman, “ to the stupidity of the British producers and their disregard for efficiency we were kept waiting four solid months for the film. “ However,” he continued. “ the picture will be shown on the anniversary of the historic event which inspired the film.” 9
