"BOY NEEDS SPANKING FOR NOT OBSERVING RULE OF THE ROAD.”

“ You need a good spanking for cycling on the wrong side of the road. You were deliberately • courting disaster,” said Mr E. D. Mosley, S.M., to a boy named Ronald Gallaher, in the Magistrate’s Court to-day. The boy was a witness in a case against Arthur J. Gale (Mr Tracy), qharged with alleged negligent driving of a motor-car on May 31. The witness, Gallaher, stated that he had cycled on the wrong side of Cashel Street between Stanmore Road and Fitzgerald Avenue. Tie heard sounded several times the horn of an overtaking motor-car, but continued on his way. The car collided with him, and as a result he spent a day in hospital. When evidence had been given as to the reasonable speed £>f the car, the Magistrate said that it would seem that any negligence shown was on the part, of the boy himself. The charge would be dismissed.
