Answering Mr Hurd King, the financial Under-Secretary to the War Office, stated that the value of War Office headquarters contracts for foodstuffs and meat in 1927 to date was about £675,000. the proportion coming from home production being IS per cent, overseas portions of the Empire 70 per cent and foreign countries 12 per cent. Information was not available regarding other purchases for local contracts at Home and foreign stations. It must be realised that the figures did not necessarily represent the percentage for the whole 3 r ear.
