CUTTY SARK WILL STAY AT FALMOUTH.
FAMOUS OLD CLIPPER GOES TO NEW BERTH. (Special to the “Star.”) LONDON, May 10. The famous old clipper ship Cutty Sark is not to be moved from Falmouth. Her owner, Cap tain W. H. Dowman, has agreed with the harbour authorities to move the ship about a length to the north of her present berth, and to provide her with head and stern moorings. The Cutty Sark was built at Dumbarton in 18G9, and was noted for her remarkably quick
voyages from the East as a tea clipper. She passed into the hands of the Portuguese, and was renamed the Ferreira, but returned to her original name when purchased by Captain Dowman, and for some years has been lying at rest in Falmouth Harbour. She is used by her owner for the training of boys for the mercantile service, and is an object of great public interest.
