NELSON COLLEGE OLD BOYS UNITE.
Many schoolboy experiences were retold and many friendships renewed at the annual dinner of the Nelson College Old Boys’ Assocation held In the Dorothy Tea Rooms last evening. The president of the Christchurch branch, Mr A. Ik Jordan, presided, and there were also at the official table, Air H. A. Young, S.M.. Mr G. Lancaster, head master of Christchurch Boys’ High School. Dr L. A. Bennett, Messrs T. 11. Williams and A. F. L. Ledger, vice-presidents of the association. After the Loyal toast had been honoured, Air Young proposed the toast of “ The College.” He said that the founders of the Nelson Province were men of high ideals, and this led them, in 1859. to found Nelson College. For sixtyeight years the staff! of the college had endeavoured to develop the school in accordance With these ideals. Mr Williams replied to the toast. The toast of “ Our Masters ” was proposed ,by Mr A. F. L. Ledger and re sponded to by Mr G. Lancaster Other toasts were:—“lvlndred Asso ciation,” proposed by Air L. R. Palme* and replied to Air S. * Samson (Welling ton College), and Mr H. Brown (Boys’ High School); “Sports,” proposed by Air G. Baybutt and replied to by Dr F. Bennett ; “ The chairman,” proposed by Air H. V. Baird. During the evening reference was made to the death of Air H. L. Fowler, for seventeen years principal of the college. , Vocal and instrumental Items were contributed by Messrs 11. and J. Dart and K. Gibbons.
