Professor and Mrs R., Speight, Cashmere, will leave to-day for Lake Tekapo. Miss Frances Thorpe has been spending a few weeks with her parents at the Vicarage, Akaroa. Mrs G. B. Ware, Akaroa, is at present in Christchurch with her daughter, Mrs W. B. Clarkson. Mrs Basil Ware and children have returned to Christchurch after spending some weeks at 'Akaroa. Mrs Madden has been staying with her daughter, Mrs Roger Mason, Okains Bay. Mrs T. G. Ware, Okains Bay, has been spending a week with her son, Mr J. Ware, at Tai Tapu. Mrs George Buchanan (Fendalton) is leaving on Friday to visit friends in Uamaru. Mrs R. H. Hennah (Mcrivale) is leaving to-morrow for Snowdon, where she will be the guest of Mrs George Gerard. , -y r an s , Mrs q L. Meredith-Ivaye (Chapter Street) are leaving to-day for a visit to Rotoruar Miss Emery, who has been visiting the North Island, is returning to Christchurch to-day. and will stay with Miss Mulvany Gray. ** Lady Rhodes has left for Auckland, where she will stay during the visit of the Duke and Duchess of York. Miss M. Frances O’Boyle, of the M ellington Hospital nursing staff, is at present on holiday leave, and is visiting Christchurch. Miss Frances Roud, who is to be married shortly, was the guest of honour at a very pleasant “ kitchen evening” given by Mrs E. Dell, St Asaph Street. Miss Roud received many useful gifts, and much amusement was got from the opening of the parcels. The evening was spent in musical items and games. A special recitation was given by Mr J.
