CRANE MEN’S STRIKE WILL CRIPPLE N.S.W. MINES AND SHIPS.

NO OVERTIME TROUBLE CAUSES DISMISSAL OF 8(5 EMPLOYEES. 3y Telegraph.—-Press Assn.—-Copyright Aus. and N.Z. Cable Association. (Received November 29, 10.5 a.m.) SYDNEY, November 29. Crane employees at ■ Newcastle decided to strike as a protest against the action of the Railway Commissioners in serving notice of dismissal on eightysix crane employees. The union’s action will have the effect of completely crippling the shipping trade of the port and withir a forcing the management of nearly every ‘colliery on the northern fields to shut down the mines. The dismissal of the crane employees is due to the operation of the no-over-time strike of the coal trimmers, who r ceasing work at four o’clock in the afternoon instead of working twentyfour hours daily. There is not sufficient work to justify the retention of the services of the crane drivers.
