TENNIS AND BOWLS FOR EMPLOYEES OF AULSEBROOK AND CO.
NEW SPORTS GROUND OPENED ON SATURDAY. A new 6ports ground comprising two asphalt tennis courts and a bowling green for four rinks, which Mr R. E. M’Dbugall has provided for the use of the. employees of Aulsebrook and Co . was officially opened by Mr M’Dougall on Saturday afternoon in the presence of a large number of employees ard visitors. The ground is situated in St Asaph Street, alongside the factory. Mr H. Fuller, the oldest employee, who has been at Aulsebrook’s for fiftytwo years, presented Mr M'Dougall with a gold key and expressed the employees* gratitude to him for providing the spOrts ground. Mr T. B. Crawshaw, office manager, presented Mrs M’Dougall with a silver jack and called on her to throw the jack and roll the first bowl. Mr H. B. Oakey, president of the Christchurch Bowling Centre, congratulated the firm on having secured such a fire green and expressed the hope that the new club would soon be in a position to take part in the centre competitions. During the afternoon games were played 6n the green and on the tennis courts.
